Day 13-Cabo San Lucas

finally the whales started showing up as we entered the bay and anchorage in Cabo San Lucas… not nearly as many as we’ve seen before when we were here on 5 previous trips…  just strolled around the town and marina complex which is one of the largest ones around including a large mall at the south end… always a fun time here… did lunch at one of the local marina cafes…Guacamole with chips and cheese Quesadillas..had to have them… sunny 80* .. this should be our last of the HEAT as we set  sail up the Baja peninsular at 2pm  toward our next port–San Diego– on Friday..  a nice show again in the showroom tonite– ‘Encore’– as two of the singers performed  a duet ..  got the old sweatshirt at the ready for the ‘kewler’ temps coming our way… brrrrr

Day 12-Puerto Vallarta

sailed into port early at 7am… we were off the ship by 830am  and headed for Wally World that’s across the street from the port.. went next door to the large Mall for some free wifi and a couple of phone calls and by that time it was lunch at an outdoor restaurant near the cruise docks ..Guacamole and tortilla chips.. some Enchiladas and a Corona Light… it was an early embarking at 130pm .. a very short stay so we didn’t venture out down to the Malecon–boardwalk-beach-shops downtown– as we are back here on the return leg of this cruise in about 5 weeks.. a nice sunny day

Day 11-day at sea

a day at sea as we head on up the Mexican west coast toward our next port–Puerto Vallarta ..we attended a Mariner’s luncheon that took me away from my spot on the Lido deck aft… just what I needed –a free lunch…  anyway  plenty of pods of dolphin thruout the day.. still no sightings of any whales which is quite unusual along this part of the coast having been thru this area a number of times on past cruises… a nice show by the singers and dancers of the ship’s cast in the Showroom–Stardust–Las Vegas…  Pat went to Music trivia after the show

Day 10-Huatulco, Mexico

late morning arrival in this resort town of Huatulco–Santa Cruz– Mexico .. we just walked off the ship and stayed close-by on the pretty beach after walking the stores and small village… we had a nice Mexican lunch at a local beach cafe…also had to grab a quick dip in the warm waters in view of our ship  along with a couple of Cervezas  and some Quasadillas with  some free wifi .. beautiful clear sunny skies in the mid 80’s just made for a ‘beachy’ kinda day

Day 9-day at sea

we are enroute to our next port Huatulco Mexico as we pass by Nicaragua, El Salvador and Guatemala along the Central American Pacific Coast….plenty of wildlife…flying fish..booby birds..hundreds of dolphin and sea turtles… no whale sightings yet …  another formal night in the dining room… Pat even got me to go to the Crow’s Nest for 9pm trivia.. I couldn’t believe how many people were up there..ship’s satellite still super slow for the internet

Day 8-Puerto Caldera Costa rica

we arrived early at 6am …. our tour didn’t start until 930am… decided to go to the Macaw Bird Sanctuary in Puntarenas.. then a short river cruise followed..  quite a place ..  good for pics…  enjoyed the day.. got up to 91*  sunny.. with a nice breeze…Costa Rica is sure a birder’s  and wildlife  paradise….  we set sail at 230pm for our next port–Huatulco, Mexico..another good show by the ship’s cast in the showroom tonite..’Unforgettable’

Day 7–day at sea Golfo Dulce

heading up the coast just offshsore crossing the Panama-Costa Rico border.. saw a couple of sharks ..plenty of sea turtles… entered the Costa Rican National park area of Golfo Dulce in early afternoon for some scenic cruisin’ around the town of Golfito and all the Sailfish resorts..a pretty sunny day with temps in the mid 80’s.. we got an invite to the ship’s cocktail party in the Crow’s Nest after dinner.. met another couple we had sailed with before so spent that time with them…  Casino was fun tonite!!

Day 6–Panama Canal transit

I got up on deck–Lido Deck aft starboard side– at 415am…we arrived at the entrance to the Atlantic side of the Panama Canal.. having transited the Canal roundtrip on four previous cruises we knew pretty much what to expect …awaiting our turn to enter the first of the three Gatun Locks … then we entered the Canal….. the travel guide came onboard and did a nice presentation and guided tour as we made our way thru the Canal to the Pacific side at Balboa… weather was cooler than expected thru most of the early morning with partly cloudy skies… later mid-morning the sun was out in full force sending temps up to the high 80’s thru the rest of the day.. Celebrity’s Century who also left Ft Lauderdale on our departure date last Friday was right behind us thru the transit..  the  locks for the new Canal set to open next year were seen after passing under the Bridge of the Americas..they were taking shape nicely  … I ended my day on deck at 4pm as we entered the Pacific Ocean passing by Fuerto Amador and the inlet with Panama City in the background..  tonite’s show was a comedian..funny guy.. all the entertainment has been pretty good so far.. tomorrow we head up the west coast of Panama crossing over into Costa Rica…

Day 5–day at sea

a so -so sunrise as we are at sea today enroute to the Atlantic Entrance of the Panama Canal in Cristobal…  25 kt winds on a nice sunny day 81*  air temps…  with 8-10′ following seas.. so although it looked ruff .. it was actually smooth sailing..  great show in the showroom tonite.. oldies.. doo-wop by male members of the cast.. we’re back on EST time today  again for the Canal transit…

Day 4–Aruba

the ship docked in Aruba at 10am after a not so great sunrise…  having been to this pretty island many times before we decided to just spend the day walking the city of Orangestad, Aruba’s capital..  the Marriot Renaissance  Hotel downtown has a nice marina with some of their pets–Iguanas native to Aruba.. Pat brought some fruit and bread for them…we grabbed a bunch of pics….  they sure do come out of the woodw*rk from behind every bush along the rocky ocean burm…after that we hit the old Crystal Casino ..Pat did good…  some more walking downtown in and out of a number of stores got us to late afternoon and a short walk back to the ship..  a nice picture taking day with sunny skies and temps in the low 80’s
